HOW WE WORK

We start by listening. What do you want from your land, and what timeline are you working with? Then we walk the property together so you can point out boundaries, trails, hunting spots, and the trees that matter to you. There is no charge for this, and no obligation to harvest anything.

Before anything is marked, we measure what you actually have: species, volume, quality, and current market value. You receive a clear appraisal of your standing timber, which is the number you need in order to make any decision. Many landowners stop here for a few years, and that is a perfectly good outcome.

We recommend which trees should come out and which should stay, based on your goals and the long-term health of the stand — not on which trees are worth the most today. Every tree in the sale is individually marked and tallied, so the volume being sold is documented before a single bid comes in.

Your timber goes out to multiple qualified buyers who bid against each other, rather than to whichever logger knocked on your door. We review the bids with you, and the sale is governed by a written contract covering price, payment terms, boundaries, road and skid trail locations, erosion control, cleanup, and completion dates. You sign nothing you do not understand.

We are on site during the harvest, checking that the crew is cutting only marked trees, following best management practices for water and soil, and honoring the contract. When the job is finished we walk the property with you for a final inspection: trails settled, landings cleaned up, and the woods left in the condition we agreed to.
Nittany Forestry is paid by the landowner, never by the timber buyer. Our compensation is tied to the strength of your sale, so our interests and yours point the same direction. Landowners who work with a forester typically recover that cost many times over in the price their timber brings.
